Ruth Mojeed Ramirez is the Chief Equity Officer of The Inclusion Project and curator of Employment Equity Co-Lab. She combines extensive research, lived experience and innovative insights to managing systemic change, fostering dialogue and engagement on solutions design and action on complex and intersectional issues of decolonization, Accessibility, Racial Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (AREDI+). She is host of the Open Canada podcast which focuses on putting people at the heart of global affairs and exploring how Canada’s democracy should engage in today’s world.
Ruth is indigenous to the Yoruba tribe from western Nigeria. Her lived experience, education and work span Africa, Europe and North America. She holds an undergraduate degree in Mass Communications from Covenant University (2011), master’s in intercultural & international communication from Royal Roads University (2015). She holds certificates in Community Organizing & Leadership from Harvard University (2017); Community-based Participatory Research from the University of Victoria (2019). She completed an Executive Leadership program at Oxford University (2021), and a certificate in Public Policy Analysis at the London School of Economics & Political Sciences (2024).
Ruth is a multi award winning social innovator, community organizer and international communications expert who has been widely recognized for her role in supporting newcomers and racialized people on the path to finding a sense of belonging within Canadian institutions and communities. She has contributed to and led many research projects and delivered keynote addresses and presentations to support knowledge and capacity development at some of Canada’s leading institutions, including, Global Affairs Canada; Community Foundations of Canada; Immigration, Refugee & Citizenship Canada; and many other private and public sector organizations.
She is a Canada Excellence Research Chair in Migration at Toronto Metropolitan University; director on the national board of the Canadian International Council; director on the Board of Governors at Camosun College, and the Board of Excellence Canada. She is Dialogue Associate at Simon Fraser University’s Centre for Dialogue and a member of the Impact Investing Advisory Board at the University of Victoria. She also serves in many advisory roles, including the advisory on Diversity and Intersectionality with the Canadian Armed Forces; Vancouver Foundation’s Community and Granting Initiatives Committee, among others.
