Rahaf Albalkhi

Rahaf is an AI ethics consultant, a member of the Ethical Intelligence Experts network, and a member of the IEEE P7003-Algorithmic bias considerations working group where she leads the evaluation section. Her work is centered around the bias of AI systems and their effect on the society we live in. The systemic discrimination and biases we already have in our society are easily transferred to the AI systems we use whether it is in healthcare, education, employment, and other public services. She gives workshops on algorithmic bias and conducts independent research to join the efforts in mitigating the bias in these systems.
Rahaf holds a Master of Applied Science (MASc) degree in electrical engineering from the University of Victoria with her thesis focused on designing an acoustic modeling technique that is unbiased against people with speech disorders.
